Review: Seducing Stag by Laurann Dohner

Author: Laurann Dohner

Title: Seducing Stag

Series: Cyborg Seduction #10
Beings: Cyborgs

Bought from: Amazon
Read format: Ebook

Rating: 4 stars

Story:

Stag and the crew of the Varnish are on a mission, responding to a distress signal of a freighter that has been attacked by the Markus Models. Instead of finding the enemy, they discover one sole survivor. Nala’s a human, and having suffered at their hands during his time on Earth, there’s no species Stag despises more. But when the petite woman confuses him for an android and tries to order him around, Stag decides she’ll live—and pay for her slights.

Nala Vestria has lost her freighter, her crew and her father, only to become personal maid to a cyborg. Stag is surly, short-tempered, and completely untrusting of humans … not to mention intense, commanding, and maybe the hottest being Nala has ever seen. When she finds him temporarily at her mercy, Nala isn’t sure if she wants to kill him or kiss him. Then again, life is short. She opts for the latter.

Nala swiftly becomes a distraction Stag can’t afford, especially after he’s had a carnal taste of what the woman has to offer. He’ll take her back to Garden, his home planet, and be rid of her — as well as the emotions she evokes. But as their journey home becomes harrowing, Nala may prove to be more of an asset than a liability. To both the ship … and the lonely cyborg who commands her.

Review:

I enjoyed this book, just like I've enjoyed every other book I've ready by Laurann Dohner. Her writing style feels unique and the stories are easy to fall into. Once I started reading it, I had to finish it.

In this story, we have Stag, who doesn't like humans. I worried the book would be similar to Zorus's book since he also was a character who didn't like humans, but the stories were nothing alike, which was great.

I liked both Stag and Nala, but I think Maze and Hellion were my absolute favorites! I really hope Hellion gets his own book because he's so different from all the other characters Laurann has created.

The story jumped around a little bit too much, though. First the Marcus Models, then something else, and again something else instead of following a red thread throughout the whole book. This didn't bother me much. Overall, I found this book entertaining, funny, and not too emotional. So if you're looking for something to relax to, then I highly recommend this book.

Her Cyborg - Read the prologue!

My next book, Her Cyborg, is almost finished! I have about thirty pages left to write. Hopefully, I will be finished this week. Therefore, I thought I'd share the prologue with you. Please be aware of that it haven't been edited yet, but I hope you will like it! :)

PROLOGUE

“So what do you think?” Doctor Jade Silva asked while typing on the keyboard in front of her.
Phoebe turned her head and watched the huge TV screen that hung on the wall. Apart from the screen and Jade's desk, there wasn't much in the office. The lack of plants and decorations along with the white walls gave her office that clinical look.

Anticipation lingered inside Phoebe. This was the moment she had waited for since she had signed the papers about three weeks ago. After months of studying and preparing, she had finally been approved to create her own cyborg. A 3D image of a naked man showed up to the left on the screen. His arms were stretched out and he slowly rotated so she could see every little detail of him. To the right on the screen information and data about him blinked by, but she couldn't take her eyes off him. He was the most handsome man she had ever seen and he was all hers. Phoebe gasped with a smile and placed a hand over her mouth.
“He's perfect,” she said and rose from the chair.
She walked closer to the screen. She wanted to touch it, but it would give the wrong impression. Instead, she stared at the man, enjoyed the view of his muscular body and enchanting face. His long and black hair lingered down his shoulders. His almond-shaped eyes looked at her. A gentle smile played on his kissable lips.
The only thing she couldn't affect was the color of his eyes, but they were the most beautiful eyes she had ever seen. They reminded her of glass with their transparent color and the way they shone like cat eyes in the dark sent goosebumps all over her skin.
About a year ago, she had turned to the scientific and medical company MedAct to apply for a male cyborg. She had spent months in their school before she had been permitted to apply. Relationships had never worked out for her. It had left her with a broken heart and more loneliness than she could bare, but with this cyborg, she would never be alone again.
She had chosen his features and personality with the help of Doctor Jade Silva. She had taken her time to decide everything just to make sure he would be the perfect man for her, and he was. She was already in love with him. The fantasy man inside her head was becoming a reality, and soon, he would walk and breathe. She longed for the day when she would finally be able to touch him.
“Now, there are a few more papers to fill out,” Jade said. “But once they are done, we can start the creating process. It will take about 3 months before he will be completed.” Jade looked up from her computer screen. “Do you wish to change any details? Maybe another hair color or maybe take away an inch of his height?”
Phoebe turned toward the doctor. “No, I'm happy with the results.”
“Are you sure? Once you press that button it will be final, there will be no turning back.”
Phoebe smiled. “I'm sure.”
“Go ahead then.”
Phoebe turned toward the huge TV screen again and stared at the green digital button bellow her cyborg's spinning image. Her hand trembled when she reached out, but she never hesitated. A clicking sound was heard when she pushed it, confirming him for creation.

Review: Breathing Vapor by Cynthia Sax.

Author: Cynthia Sax
Title: Breathing Vapor
Series: Cyborg Sizzle - Book 2
Beings: Cyborgs

Rating: A
Heat: Burning

Bought from: Amazon
Read format: Ebook

Story:

Vapor is the most advanced cyborg the Humanoid Alliance has ever developed. He’s a finely honed weapon, a warrior without parallel, half man and half machine. No lock can contain him. No being can stop him. Whatever he wants, he takes.

He wants Mira Breazeal, the Designer’s daughter.

She’s his one temptation, his sexy target. Vapor shouldn’t crave her caresses, steal her kisses, make her scream with ecstasy. The cyborgs want her dead and they would question his loyalty if he didn’t kill her. The humans would shoot him on sight if he dared to touch her.

Their love is forbidden. Their desire could be lethal. One human and one cyborg will risk everything for a moment of passion.

Cover:
A sexy and appealing cover in beautiful colors!

Review:
This is the second book in the Cyborg Sizzle series. I really looked forward to reading it and I can, without a doubt, say that I can't wait for the third book to come out. This series is intriguing with strong, powerful, and very masculine cyborgs and with strong and determined women trying to fit into a world dominated by men.

The love story in this book was powerful and I found Mira, the female main character, to be strong considering what she had to go through every day. I liked Vapor and the other characters as well. It felt like they were all well thought through.

This is a dark science fiction romance, but I didn't find it as dark as the first book. This book is, in other words, not for everyone, but if you like dark stories filled with romance, action, and hot sex scenes, then this is a book for you! I highly recommend it!

Review: Releasing Rage by Cynthia Sax

Author: Cynthia Sax
Title: Releasing Rage
Series: Cyborg Sizzle - Book 1
Beings: Cyborgs

Rating: A
Heat: Burning

Bought from: Amazon
Read book format: ebook

Story:
Half Man. Half Machine. All Hers.

Rage, the Humanoid Alliance's most primitive cyborg, has two goals--kill all of the humans on his battle station and escape to the Homeland. The warrior has seen the darkness in others and in himself. He believes that's all he's been programmed to experience.

Until he meets Joan.

Joan, the battle station's first female engineer, has one goal--survive long enough to help the big sexy cyborg plotting to kill her. Rage might not trust her but he wants her. She sees the passion in his eyes, the caring in his battle-worn hands, the gruff emotion in his voice.

When Joan survives the unthinkable, Rage's priorities are tested. Is there enough room in this cyborg's heart for both love and revenge?

Cover:
This is a great cover that fits well with the story. I love it!

Review:
This is not a book for everyone. If you love dark romance/science fiction with a lot of graphic sex and action, then this is a book for you. Cynthia creates a tragic world in her book - for the cyborgs. They are considered nothing more but deadly killer machines and the humans don't care the slightest about how the cyborgs are treated. It is a male dominated world with primitive thinking humans. This book shows humanities worst sides, and poor Joan is in the middle of it all. She is the only woman among men, and they do everything they can to push her down. But when she is assigned to take care of a cyborg as an engineer everything changes. Rage is deadly, dangerous, and no one thinks she will survive being near him, but Joan will do everything in her power to gain Rage's trust.

I loved this book from the first page. I would have read it from the beginning to the end if I hadn't had my work and house to take care of. This book made me feel. I laughed, cried, and cheered with the characters. This is a book I will read several times. It was well written with fantastic characters and an interesting story, but as already mentioned, it's not a book for everyone. The story is dark, evil, and a few times, things seemed hopeless, but fortunately, there was a happy ending. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

What do you think of this cover for My Cyborg?

Right now, I'm writing Angel in Madness - book 2 in the Forever Yours Series. Once it's published, My Cyborg - book 1 in the Bound by Her Series will be next. I have already begun playing around with the cover for the printed version of My Cyborg. Since I make no secret of what the cover look like, I decided to invite you to follow the process of the cover and to leave your opinion. Do you like the cover? Do you not like the cover? If not, tell me why. Should I change something? Help me create a great cover! :)

From time to time, I will put up images of the cover, to show you how it changes. Right now, I only have the basics done. I don't even have a blurb yet, so I decided to put in a teaser instead. Here you have the current look of cover. I haven't added the text on the spine yet because I don't know how wide the spine will be yet. What do you think? :)

The cover for Her Cyborg.

I have made no secret of the cover for the first book in my upcoming series Bound by Her, but some of you might have noticed that I have made some changes a few times. When I think it can't get any better, I find something to improve it with. So I thought, I'd show you the changes the cover has gone through. Which one do you like best? :)

This is what it looks like now:

I like this version too:

This is what the cover looked like before:

And this is what the cover looked like the first time I made it:

All her life she's been told cyborgs were evil, killer machines, but this cyborg make her question everything she knows. When he escapes he kidnapps her, which Chloe, strangly enough, don't mind. Instead if feels like coming home.

Cover:
It's an alright cover, but it doesn't say much about the book.

Review:
This book got me hooked from the start. It promised a really wonderful story, but after a few chapters I lost a little bit interest because it felt like I've read it before, in other books. But at the same time it was a great story, funny and with interesting characters. In some parts the book wasn't predictable, which was good. I recommend this one. You can download it for free from Amazon.
