Review: Drantos by Laurann Dohner

Author: Laurann Dohner
Title: Drantos
Series: VLG Series - Book 1
Beings: Shapeshifters

Rating: B
Heat: Burning

Bought from: Amazon
Read format: Ebook

Story:

For most, a plane crash means the end of life. For Dusti Dawson, it’s just the beginning…

Dusti and her sister Batina survived the crash, thanks to a couple of brothers who are equal parts menacing and muscled. She’d be grateful…if they hadn’t turned out to be delusional kidnappers, who believe Dusti’s grandfather is some monstrous halfbreed creature bent on murder. Turns out Vampires, Lycans, and Gargoyles do exist— and they’ve been crossbreeding to form two hybrid races. Drantos, the man Dusti can’t stop lusting after, is one of the most dangerous of all.

VampLycans Drantos and Kraven were sent to eliminate a threat to their clan. But when that threat turns out to be mostly human women, clueless of their lineage, plans change—especially after Drantos gets a taste of Dusti’s blood. Now, he’ll die to protect her. Even if that means walking away from everything he knows to keep her at his side.

Is her strong desire for Drantos reason enough to endure danger coming from all sides? Or should Dusti cut and run the first chance she gets?

Cover:
The cover is amazing! It stands out and it is appealing. I love it!

Review:
VLG is a new series by Laurann Dohner and it stands for Vampires, Lycans, and Gargoyles. I have read almost all books out there by Laurann and I have loved them all. I looked forward to reading this one even if shapeshifters aren't really my thing.

At first, I didn't know what to expect. I found the story to be quite classical to a shapeshifter story. There were the laws, a town of their own, the clans, and of course, the shapeshifting. Very classical, but at the same time, the story had a twist of its own with the mixed vampire, lycan, and gargoyle bloodlines. I really look forward to Aveoth's book. I hope he will get one!

There was a lot of background and information about how things work in their world. Sometimes, it was a little bit difficult to follow, but eventually, it all sank in.

The story was filled with action, true love, hot sex scenes and drama. A great mix and even if the book was long, I didn't experience it as such. I loved reading it. The only thing I didn't like was the sisters attitudes. Very unprofessional and immature sometimes, but in the end, I enjoyed reading this book. Definitely another success by Laurann Dohner!! I look forward to reading the next one in the series.

Fifty Shades of Grey - Good or Bad?

There has been a lot of talk going on about the movie Fifty Shades of Grey ever since the book came out. When it was announced that a movie was going to be made, it felt like the whole world went crazy because of the books "sensitive" subject. There was so much bad criticism about everything, it seemed. I must say that I haven't read the book, but all this made me want to see the movie. And just like the book, the movie recieved a lot of bad critisicm. For me, it felt like people where criticizing something they themselves had no experiences with but felt they had the right to critizes it because it is not a "normal" thing to do or want. I'm talking about the BDSM. So, because of that, I had to go and see the movie for myself.

I didn't know what to expect when I sat down in the movie theater and the film started to play, but to my surprise, I found myself really enjoying the movie. It was loaded with emotions and hot sceens, but nothing was too much. Dakota Johnson was perfect for the role. She managed to play a sweet and innocent woman with little experiences in life very well. Even Jamie Dornan made a great job with his role, but he didn't really put off those vibes Anastasia seemed to get from him. I didn't experience him as intense enough.

I loved the acting, but I also enjoyed many of the sceens, especially the business meeting sceen. That one was just perfect! The music was perfect for the movie as well. I found myself laughing quite often, and sometimes it felt like I was watching a comedy as well, but it was all fitted just right into the story. Some have said that the movie lacks a story line, but I thought there was a very clear story in it. It was about two peoples sexual experiences and relationship, how they got to know each other and how things evolved for them.

In my eyes, this was a great movie. I wouldn't mind seeing it again. I would also like to say: Don't listen to the critics! Go and see for yourself.

The negative reviewers and their reviews.

I recently had a discussion with a few people on Goodreads about reviewing an author's book, and honestly it saddenes me to see how some people think. If not even reviewers can say one positive word about a book they didn't like, then no wonder the world looks the way it does.

I have been reading reviews for many years, and from time to time I write reviews as well. When I write them I make sure the reviews are honest, because honesty is important. But if you must write a negative review, make sure to write it in a positive way. No author deserves a 100% negative review just because there were a few spelling errors in the book, and no author deserves to have his or hers will broken down because someone on the Internet had a dislike.

We are all humans and we all do our best. Not many people are able to start writing a book and finishing it. Please realize that there are many hours of hard work behind every author's book and therefore every author deservers constructive critisism instead of negative reviews. And remember that behind every book there is a living person with feelings.

If you happen to stumble upon a poorly written book and decide to write a review about it, don't push the author down. Help the author instead! You have no idea who the person behind the book is, what their life looks like, what they feel or think. Maybe that author just wrote that book for fun, or maybe that author is fighting to make a change in his or hers life. Maybe writing is all they can do and and they are in the process of learning. Or maybe they write ... to save their lives ...

Every author out there is a brave person. He or she exposes themselves willingly to the masses to be either liked or hated, and often without the chance to defend themselves. That alone should be applaused.

Remember that you can hurt someone for life with one simple word. Therefore choose your words wisely. You never know how someone might react to the words you say.

Always be professional and mature in everything you do in your life. Look at the world with open eyes and a smile on your face. Spread light and love around you with that smile. Have you ever smiled toward a stranger on the street? I recommend you try it. Maybe that simple smile is everything that person needs to brighten their day.

Angel in Chains got a 5 STAR REVIEW!

Today Angel in Chains got a 5 star review! It's written by Lucinda and you'll also find it on Amazon and Goodreads. Thank you very much, Lucinda! :)

ANGEL IN CHAINS is an absorbing paranormal romance/ erotica that `gets under your skin' and leaves you shaken! The intensity between Inez and Aledyan is magnetic; as though it was destiny or fate that had brought them together. The beautiful hardback book that I was sent from the author is stunning, and will appeal to fans of JR Ward and Larissa Lone. With a cast of deeply beguiling characters; each uniquely distinctive in terms of alluringly evil or otherwise were just fantastic. As you enter the cave and encounter an Angel in chains, nothing is ever the same again...

At 202 pages I found this a quick read despite being packed with delicious detail and sinfully seductive *adult scenes. Deeply beguiling and wrought with fiery passion, Nellie C Lind's outstanding novel is an addictive read and definitely my `guilty pleasure'. I was desperate to find out what would happen and if true love really does conquer all! It is heartrending tale of deception versus sincerity and lust versus love that speaks from the soul, tugging at the strings of emotion. I am most impressed by Nellie C Lind's phenomenal paranormal novel that had me glued to the pages throughout, pulling me into the tantalizingly tempting storyline with such dynamic drama. Sat on the edge of my seat in suspense throughout, I was kept guessing right up to the very end...and what an end! The stunning conclusion to such an unforgettable story was pure perfection, and so I cannot recommend this book highly enough.

What would you do if your one true love could set you free?
What price would you pay?

5 STARS - a MUST READ

When Inez entered the cave Aledyan first thought that he imagined her. He has been a warlock's prisoner for over two hundred years, but she could end his torments and set him free, if he played his cards right. Would he be able to go through with it? Would he be able to hurt her, knowing also that she was his one true love?

Title: C791
Series: Cyborgs: More than machines

Rating: B
Heat: Hot

Bought from: Free copy from Amazon
Read book format: Ebook

Story:

All her life she's been told cyborgs were evil, killer machines, but this cyborg make her question everything she knows. When he escapes he kidnapps her, which Chloe, strangly enough, don't mind. Instead if feels like coming home.

Cover:
It's an alright cover, but it doesn't say much about the book.

Review:
This book got me hooked from the start. It promised a really wonderful story, but after a few chapters I lost a little bit interest because it felt like I've read it before, in other books. But at the same time it was a great story, funny and with interesting characters. In some parts the book wasn't predictable, which was good. I recommend this one. You can download it for free from Amazon.

Review: Kissed by a dark prince by Felicity Heaton.

Author: Felicity Heaton
Title: Kissed by a dark prince
Series: Eternal mates #1

Rating: C
Heat: Hot

Bought from: ARC copy from the author
Read book format: Ebook

Story:
The fae prince Loren finds his chosen mate Olivia among the enemy after a battle with his brother. From that moment on nothing is ever the same again.

Cover:
It's a nice cover, but at the same time there's nothing special about it because of its similarity with many other paranormal romance covers. It doesn't really say much about the book itself.

Review:
I liked this story and I look forward to read the next book. Like always, Felicity's writing is great and the characters were likable. Several scenes put a big smile on my face, but at the same time, the story was very precidictable.

Review: The goblin king by Shona Husk

Author: Shona Husk
Title: The goblin king
Series: The shadowland series

Rating: E
Heat: Warm

Bought from: Amazon
Read book format: Ebook

Story:
The goblin king is searching for his queen, but who can love a cursed man with a heart literally made of gold? Elisa is such a woman.

Cover:
A really nice cover and it fits the story.

Review:
This is not a bad story, but it's not a good one either, though it has potential. A little bit more of editing and I'm sure it will make a great story. Unfortunatelly the story was repeating itself a little bit too much and I don't know if it's just my Kindle, but the text was missing on several places. I didn't really experience the chemistry between the characters either.

Review: Accidentally married to a ... vampire? by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff

Author: Mimi Jean Pamfiloff
Title: Accidentally married to ... a vampire?
Series: Accidentally yours ... #2
Beings: Vampires

Rating: B
Heat: Warm

Bought from: Amazon
Read book format: Ebook

Story:
Helena accidentally stumbles upon a crypt in the Mexican jungle. Inside she finds a man. A man that has been asleep for over three hundred years, happens to be a vampire, and happens to wait for her to wake him up.

Cover:
Not a very exciting cover, but it's nice.

Review:
I really enjoyed reading this book. The backside is that it reminded way too much of the first book. The characters personalities were similar to the characters from the first book. The same thing goes with the story. It felt a little like reading the same book all over again, but at the same time it didn't matter that much, because it was very good.

Review: Accidentally in love with ... a god? By Mimi Jean Pamfiloff

Author: Mimi Jean Pamfiloff
Title: Accidentally in love with ... a god?
Series: Accidentally yours ... #1
Beings: Gods

Rating: A

Read book format: Ebook

Story:
Guy is trouble, he's cocky, but also gorgeous and ... a voice in Emmas head. A voice she has heard for as long as she can remember, that is until Guy wants her to head into the Mexican jungle and find his body.

Cover:
It's okey, but it doesn't really appeal to me.

Review:
This book was really funny! There's quite a cocky attitude between the characters and I just love it. A really entertaining book I highly recommend for anyone who wants to get a great laugh mixed with passion and action.

Review: Justice by Laurann Dohner

Author: Laurann Dohner
Title: Justice
Series: New species #4
Beings: Human animals

Rating: A
Heat: Hot

Bought from: Amazon
Read book format: Ebook

Story:
Justice is the leader of New species. He's a very buzy man, but also lonely. When the tough Jessie enters his life she turns everything around. Justice must make a choice - Jesse or the safety of his people.

Cover:
This cover is just ... wierd. I don't like the way the guy is presented and the background is just wrong. It looks as if it was put together within two minutes without much thought behind it.

Review:
Wow! This series is just getting better and better! I wasn't really looking forward to read Justice book, but now that I've done it I think it was just amazing. Several of the scenes was just breathtaking and there weren't that much repetitions withins this book like it was in the previous once. I really look forward to read the rest of this series!

Review: Valiant by Laurann Dohner

Author: Laurann Dohner
Title: Valiant
Series: New species #3
Beings: Humanoid animals

Rating: A
Heat: Hot

Bought from: Amazon
Read book format: Ebook

Story:
Tammy walks by mistake into Valiant's territory, a mistake leaving her in terror and fear when the huge man-beast starts to growl and threaten her. He hates humans and will do anything to protect his home, that is until he takes a sniff of Tammy and immediately claims her as his.

Cover:
Well, the good thing is that the cover follows the series, but I still think they could look better if the text was placed differently.

Review:
So far this is the best book in the series! I just loved it! Valiant is more beast than human. He's huge and frightening while Tammy is tiny. He's very possessive of her and threatens to kill anyone who tries to take her away from him. Tammy had me wondering what she will do. Will she accept Valiant or will she run away? There are several repetitions in this book as well, but it didn't matter. I was hoocked and once I started I had to finish it.

Review: Slade by Laurann Dohner

Author: Laurann Dohner
Title: Slade
Series: New species #2
Beings: Humanoid animals

Rating: B
Heat: Hot

Bought from: Amazon
Read book format: Ebook

Story:
Trisha is the doctor at Homeland, the place where the New species live. Ever since she saved Slade's life she can't get him out of her head, but he doesn't even remember her.

Cover:
Similiar cover to the first book. I don't think the guy's expression fits to this story. He would have fitted better to the cover of the third book.

Review:
This book was a little bit slow in the beginning and even if it made me feel, just like the first one, I found it also a little bit irritating. I'm not fond of reading about severe missunderstandings between characters, but luckely things turned out alright. Through and through this is a great second book to this series, even if there are a lot of repetitions.

Review: Fury by Laurann Dohner

Author: Laurann Dohner
Title: Fury
Series: New species #1
Beings: Humanoid animals

Rating: A
Heat: Burning

Bought from: Amazon
Read book format: Ebook

Story:
Ellie works undercover at a pharmaceutical company to find proof of their illegal experiments where scientists have combined human and animal DNA, creating a new species. These people aren't treated well and Ellie will do anything to save them, especially one of them who has captured her heart.

Cover:
A regular cover for erotic books, but I think it could have looked better if the text was placed differently.

Review:
This book made me really feel. I felt with the characters throughout the entire book. I smiled, laughed, worried and almost even cried. Laurann has a way with words and I like her writing. It also felt like a very unique story. The only backside was the dialogs. There were many repetitions, making me feel like I sometimes read an essay, but it didn't matter. The story was great, though this is not a book for everyone. Warning for rough scenes!

Review: Pleasure unbound by Larissa Ione

Author: Larissa Ione
Title: Pleasure unbound
Series: Demonica series
Beings: Demons, vampires

Rating: A
Heat: Hot

Bought from: Amazon
Read book format: Paperback

Story:
Tayla is a demon-slayer. She kills demons for a living and thinks they are evil creatures that deserves to die. That is until she gets badly wounded and ends up at a hospital run by demons. There she meets the doctor Eidolon, a demon that awakens a passion within her she'd never felt before.

Cover:
Dark and very fitting cover. I love it!

Review:
I have found a new favorite author! I can't wait to read the other books in this series. "Pleasure unbound" is a dark story filled with all kind of different demons, both good and evil once. This book makes me prefer the demons above the humans that can be even more wicked than the demons. The characters are just great. There's a lot of passion, lust and emotions, but also violence and rough language, which means that this is not a book for everyone.

Review: Kiss of midnight by Lara Adrian

Author: Lara Adrian
Title: Kiss of midnight
Series: Midnight breed series
Beings: Vampires

Rating: B
Heat: Warm

Bought from: Amazon
Read book format: Paperback

Story:
When Gabrielle witnesses a murder she was not meant to see she is brought into a world she never thought existed. Meeting Lucan Thorne makes her realize that vampires are real.

Cover:
There are several different covers for this series. This one I like the most.

Review:
I didn't get hooked at once when I started to read this book, but after about 100 pages I was stuck. The vampires in this series are different, more religious than vampires in other series, but still warriors who fight for the good. The backside with this book was that it felt like I've read it before. Many of the sceens felt like classic vampire sceens.

Review: Lash by L.G. Castillo

Author: L.G. Castillo
Title: Lash
Series: Broken angel #1
Beings: Angels

Rating: C
Heat: Mild

Bought from: Amazon
Read book format: Ebook

Story:
The angel Lash saves a life he shouldn't have and gets thrown out of heaven to walk the earth. He gets one final chance many years later to protect the girl Naomi.

Cover:
I just love this cover! One of the best I've seen.

Review:
I looked forward to read this book and I did like it, but at the same time it felt like I was reading an action movie. The main characters were on the run, attacked from time to time, before the fled again, just like in many action movies. It was a very simple, but good writing, no unnecessary details. Lash felt more like a human than an angel, and even if things went a little slow the story worked and the so did the characters.

Review: Beauty awakened by Gena Showalter

Author: Gena Showalter
Title: Beauty awakened
Series: Angels of the dark #2
Beings: Angels

Rating: C
Heat: Mild

Bought from: Amazon
Read book format: Paperback

Story:
Nicola suffers from a weak heart and demons whisper bad things in her ear. When Koldo lay eyes on her he decides to help her, but maybe he needs help as well.

Cover:
I love this cover! Gentle colors and romantic, only Koldos beard is missing.

Review:
I enjoyed reading this book, but at the same time it felt like I was just waiting for it to start. The story felt a little bit weak and some of the sceens could have been improved. I didn't experience the chemistry between the charecters as much as I would have liked to either, but at the same time Koldo felt like a strong character. Nicola on the other hand faithed a little bit too much, but through and trough it was a good book.

Review: Wicked nights by Gena Showalter

Author: Gena Showalter
Title: Wicked nights
Series: Angels of the dark #1
Beings: Angels

Rating: A
Heat: Warm

Bought from: Amazon
Read book format: Paperback

Story:
Annabelle is imprisont in a mental institution for a crime she didn't commit. Zacharel is a dangerous and ruthless angel in charge of an army that doesn't take him seriously. When they meet the combination of them two becomes like fighting fire with fire.

Cover:
Very beautiful and steamy cover, but it's misleading because the book is more sensual than hot.

Review:
The first thing that comes to mind after reading this book is that the title is wrong. It doesn't fit the story. Part from that this is one of the best books I've read. Difficult to put down, great characters, awesome chemestry between them and I just love the way Gena writes. Even if the book is dark and violent there's humor as well. I find myself laughing quite a lot.

Review: Her wicked angel by Felicity Heaton

Author: Felicity Heaton
Title: Her wicked angel
Series: Her angel # 6
Beings: Angels and demons

Rating: B
Heat: Hot

Bought from: ARC copy from author
Read book format: Ebook

Story:
The dark angel Asmodeus gets orders from his master, The Devil, to bring a human woman to Hell. The moment Asmodeus sees the woman he decides not to obey. Instead he wants her for himself.

Cover:
This cover is perfect! It cannot get more wicked than this!

Review:
I have so far not read a book from Felicity Heaton that I haven't enjoyed. This one was difficult to put away and it gave me several surprises when the story didn't go they way I expected it to. The backside is the lack of dialog and way too long descriptions that sometimes made me lose interest. But part from that I highly recommend this bok!
